Teacher Tip Tuesday #11
There is a new book that you can download that is called Teaching with Intention by Debbie Miller. Each of the chapters are available as a PDF file for you to read. I went through and saved each chapter in my teaching folder with the intention of reading each one to see what strategies that I can use in the classroom this year. You can save each chapter, but you cannot print it. If you want to have a hard copy of this book, you can purchase it for $21.00 (flat rate shipping is an additional $5.00). Stenhouse offers new books as PDF previews, which imho, is pretty cool!
One of the books that I am purchasing from Stenhouse Publishers is Tools for Teaching Content Literacy by Janet Allen. This book will be an excellent resource for all of my students this year as I try to teach my struggling readers to read and to engage my advanced learners to prevent them from getting bored. This book is a mere $12.00 ($5.00 flate rate shipping). Personally, just looking at the table of contents, I think that is quite a bargain!
Since it's the day after Labor Day, I'm going to assume that most schools in the U.S. have started. The beginning of the school year is always a good time for motivation and to push to do a better job this year than we did last year. It is imperative as educators never to be satisfied with what we are doing because we can always be better at what were doing.
Open Education.net has rounded up a fine selection of videos to "get those teacher juices flowing" for the upcoming school year and beyond.
I hope that everyone has their best teaching year ever!

Thanks for the link. I'm going to check it out now.
I love all the teaching tips you give!
Love Janet Allen. Do you have WORDS, WORDS, WORDS? It's a good one, too.
